DOT states Drug and Alcohol testing may be performed for the following reasons:

    Pre-employment
A negative drug test result on an employee must be received by the company before they are allowed to work in a safety sensitive job for the Company.

    Random
This reason is only to be used when the employee has been pulled using an approved random generating program by the Third Party Administrator (TPA). Drumm Health Services is a TPA and if you would like more information, contact us.

    Post Accident
When an accident occurs that meets DOT Qualifications as an Accident, the driver has an 8 hour window to have a Drug & Alcohol test completed. Drumm Health Services provides Collection Services in the Upstate of SC. Drumm also coordinates collections across the country for our own Clients that find themselves in need of this service.

    Reasonable Cause
When an employer believes an employee is impaired, this test reason allows the employer to bring the employee in for testing. Drumm Health Services also offers the DOT Required 60/60 class for supervisors so they can evaluate and call for a reasonable cause test when needed.

    Return to Duty
After a positive test result an employee must complete an evaluation with a Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) and must pass a return to duty test before returning to ANY safety sensitive DOT position regardless of the company the driver was employed with when the Positive results occurred. All fees incurred involving the SAP evaluation and testing is at the employees expense unless the employer has a program in place to subsidize costs.

    Follow Up
The Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) will give the employer a letter stating what protocol to follow for this employee. Generally it is testing to be done at specified intervals. Drumm Health Services will guide our clients in setting up this testing.
